In my humble opinion, the northeast of Thailand, or Issan as it is more commonly referred to, is overlooked by far too many travelers. It’s a fascinating region of cultural and culinary diversity and never fails to delight me. Located in the upper northeast, 615 kilometres from Bangkok, the province of Udon Thani is perhaps

I make no apologies if the following images bring on a craving for Thai seafood. If they do, the answer is to head down the coast to Hua Hin this weekend. Thai seafood restaurants in the royal resort town of Hua Hin are located on the wooden piers along the seafront. I first dined here

Last night I attended the Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year 2013 at the Mall Galleries in London. It was a well attended evening with prizes presented by food critic, journalist and MasterChef judge, Jay Rayner. David Loftus, Jamie Oliver’s photographer, and chef Bill Granger were also there. There were more than 5,500 entires

I must confess that I am a bit of a foodie. And I live in the right place to indulge myself. Thailand, indeed South East Asia, is a paradise for adventurous eaters. An added bonus is that I love photographing in vibrant markets, snapping food vendors and the nosh on my plate. Last year I entered

I have some good news to share. I’m delighted to say that my photography is now represented by Gallery Stock. I signed with them a few months ago but of course it’s a lengthy process getting these things up and running but my work is slowly coming online. The first batch of images can be

I’ve just returned from four days in Phayao near Chiang Rai in northern Thailand where I was on a photo-assignment for an international grower and exporter of organic rice. With the rainy season in full swing, it’s time for farmers to uproot the seedlings from the nursery beds and replant in the flooded paddy fields.

I’m travelling back from the UK today after my first visit in almost four years. I’ve been here catching up with friends, drinking the best beer in the world, and attending the ‘Pink Lady Food Photographer of the Year’ exhibition as one of the finalists. The image below was selected in the final seven for

Whenever I am travelling in Laos, or any country in Asia for that matter, my morning ritual is a leisurely stroll around a fresh market chatting to the ladies selling produce, grazing on a couple of local snacks, and taking pictures. Up north, markets are particularly colourful due to the presence of many different ethnic

City, town, or village, one of the first things I do when I arrive is find out the location of the fresh markets. Most places will have one in the morning and evening. These can be held at the same site or different parts of the town. Typically, morning markets open at before daybreak and fizzle
