Phi Ta Kon Ghost Festival

July 18th, 2013 — 6:44am
I’ve recently returned from one of Issan’s most colourful annual events, the Phi Ta Kon ghost festival. It was my first visit for more than a decade so I was interested to see how it had changed. I was joined by Richard Barrow and we had a great snapping the event and eating good Thai food.

Petronas Twin Towers

July 4th, 2013 — 3:01am
While working in KL, I met up with my old mate and photojournalist, Pein Lee. We spent a few night’s chomping on braised pig’s ears at local eateries, and propping up the bar at Sam’s, chatting about photography, future projects, and the Malaysia’s current political malaise, until kicking out time. Pein’s talk is as direct

Rice Harvest in Chiang Rai

November 21st, 2012 — 8:32am
It’s harvest time in Thailand. I’ve recently returned from a few days in Chiang Rai and Phayao photographing the rice harvest for a client. Alas, for two out of three days the weather was dreadful with white skies and rain. Most unseasonal. I met up with a few of the farmers I had photographed

Ngiew Chinese Opera

November 8th, 2012 — 3:24pm
It’s been several years since I had the oppurtunity to photograph a Ngiew or Chinese opera so when they were in town for the vegetarian festival I paid a visit. As welcoming as ever, they invited me backstage to take a few snaps of them getting ready for a five hour performance.   I certainly
